Is your class excited for Saint Patrick's day? If so, then you need to give them the fun, themed activities they deserve. Done correctly, they can learn while having an awful lot of good old Irish fun!
From crafts to games, we have some excellent ideas. Read on for our favorite Saint Patrick's preschool activities.
This Saint Patrick's day activity idea for preschoolers is a variation on an old classic. Not only are these puppets fun to create, but they let the imagination of your children run wild. Afterward, they can explore and play using their creations.
All you need to do in advance is cut out a lot of shamrock shapes from green felt. Collect the supplies, which are standard preschool craft materials including obligatory eyes and popsicle sticks!
The only instruction your pupils really need to follow is gluing the popsicle stick to the felt shapes. After this, they can go wild and make the coolest character possible.
This is a great activity for physical education and really helps build early motor skills. In addition, it lets your children have some fun playing a competitive game.
Set up three or four leprechaun pots (plant pots will suffice) and mark the floor with green tape, not so far away. Each child gets three attempts at throwing a gold coin into the leprechaun's pots. For each one they get, they gain one point.
This is another of the craft-based Saint Patrick's day activity ideas. It is sure to inspire lots of fun and laughter, as your children create their own leprechaun head from a paper plate. All you need are plates, string, and colored cards.
Cut out the middle of the plates, so only the edges remain. These will be the beard of the leprechaun, so you can let your children paint them orange or any other color they choose. Make sure you have cards cut out into the shape of green hats, which they can glue to the top.
After this, they can decorate the rest of the head as they wish. When finished, affix string to each side for them so they can wear the mask. Their faces should pop through the hole you cut in the plate, making them look like a jolly Irish leprechaun.
Remember the coins you used for the toss game earlier? Well, keep them to hand for some basic math.
Whatever level of math your pupils are at, you can adapt it to suit. All you need to do is get them counting from the leprechauns pots of gold. Perhaps they just need to count the number of coins, or maybe they have to do some basic subtraction to pay the leprechaun for his services.
Now you know the best Saint Patrick's Preschool Activities, you can try them and adapt them for each school year. You may find a better way to do them, or even come up with a more exciting variation on these games and activities.
After all this fun, don't forget to allow your preschoolers some much-earned rest. The Ground Level should be your first stop when making nap time the best time. Click here to see our beautifully soft toddler cot sheets, and order yours today!
